Garry Olivers Pig Farm, Longrenong, Winneleagh, Tasmania
This investigation into one of Tasmania´s largest piggeries and suppliers to Woolworths was conducted by Diana Simpson and Emma Haswell and uncovered horrific cruelty to pigs. The RSPCA were asked to attend. They refused as it was a weekend so the police were then called in which resulted in a successful prosecution. The pig farmer and his company were found guilty of aggravated cruelty.
They have subsequently stopped farming pigs. The magistrares comments can be heard at the link below.

BIKING FOR BRIGHTSIDE- INDIA FURST FUNDRAISER !!!
May 27th - June 10th
.jpg)
Above; India meeting Winston at Brightside.
When asked to choose a class 8 project, the first thing India Furst thought of was that she wanted to raise money for Brightside.
Her mum had been talking about Brightside and what we do for animals and India says she was inspired. She thought a sponsered bike ride would be a way for her to help the animals too.
She has now completed her ride from Launceston to Brightside a total of over 240km !! a huge effort....India is tiny !!! We are so proud of her. She left Launceston on Thursday May 27th and arrived Thursday 10th June. India raised awareness of the plight of factory farmed animals in our State of Tasmania by having stories on TV news and radio, BTN (A.B.C s Behind the News), newspapers and radio and she raised over $10,000 to help us save animals from suffering !!!
